The exhibition is called ‘Beyond the Frame’. It can be seen in London, from the 23rd to the 28th of April; and Glasgow, from the 7th to the 13th of May.

Entry to this exhibition will be free; however the exhibited works of art will later be sold, with the money going to the ‘Miami Five’, to raise awareness for this cause.

The ‘Miami Five’ are a group of Cubans, who were imprisoned by the US government after being accused of espionage. After a trial where the key witnesses were prevented from testifying, the five defendants were sentenced for fifteen years to life in prison.

Works of Art by the best contemporary Cuban artists will be in the exhibition – taking place in the United Kingdom for the first time – including Rasheed Araeen, Derek Boshier, Mona Hatoum and Susan Hiller.

At the opening ceremony, which will take place on the evening of the 23rd of April, expect the appearance of some of the artists, the Cuban Ambassador and the family members of the ‘Miami Five’.

It will be run from the 23rd to the 28th of April in London (Gallery 27, Cork Street, W1S 3NG) and from the 7th to the 13th of May in Glasgow (The Lighthouse, Mitchell Lane, G1 3NU). For more information, please visit the website
